battalion 2 had annual inspection this week. Annual inspection is a little like spring cleaning at your home. All members of each station spend countless hours (in-between running 911 calls) cleaning, painting, shining, and dusting every nook and cranny of the station. They also wax, wipe, and polish each truck, engine, and rescue and all the equipment carried on each apparatus. Why do we have annual inspection? Here are just some of the reasons: - firefighters spend 1/3 of their lives living at the fire station and annual inspection ensures they are living in a clean, safe environment. - cleaning and examining the tools ensures they are able to operate safely and efficiently on scene of every emergency - cleaning the apparatus (including underneath the engines and trucks) allows members to see any problems, cracks, or damage so they are sure the vehicles are ready to respond when the call comes in. Your LAFD members take great pride in the appearance of every station and apparatus. Please stop by any station and take a look for yourselves.
